Sweet Istria 2010

We were in Koper.

We had a beautiful weather... well, with some clouds.

But we were safe under the roof just in case of the rain (which was later proved to be a wise decision, because it was shower in the afternoon).

This year Sweet Istria was sweet for sure.

I admit, I was slow and I didn't manage to photograph the creative process and artists at work. Again, I worked with glittering in the sea - see the detail bellow (I won't show you the whole painting as it will be exhibited in the galleries around Slovenia, so you'll have to come and see it yourself).

I only managed to take pictures of some boats after I finished the painting.

And at the end I had some time to enjoy in a warm, nice evening.

This year at Sweet Istria I also enjoyed in some interesting moments: chatting about frescoes, art, having fun hearing oooh and aaaaah's when people looked at my own creations, talking about painting cabinets, photography, creating with children and child psychology, and more and more. No wonder that there was no time for the creativity! ;)

And another interesting (not so nice) thing has happened to me.
One lady has photographed my illustrations, which were placed on display in the 'album'. She just turned the pages and photographed page by page. Without asking for permition, without even looking at me. ????? I didn't want to make a big deal out of it at first (I was too tired to quarrel) but just when I wanted to say something to her, she finished her photo 'session' and went away.
Well, this is something I've never really experienced before and would like to hear your opinion. What to do?
And one more thing to ask you ... if you notice my works published somewhere without any credits (on FB or blog or...), please let me know. I guess, I'll have to take matters more under control and not simply trust that all are familiar with basic behaviour and rules of the game... Unfortunately...

But to sum this up, Sweet Istria was once again fun and creative, and it's always a pleasure to be creative together with other artists - inspiring!

Creative studio...

...where dreams come true...

Finally, you can peep into my creative corner - from beginning to the end.

It took some time to think about what I need in the studio and what the layout would look like to be practical as much as possible. So that you don't stumble over the things on the floor or spill the paint on the first swing of the arm - I'm sure you know what I mean :).

(planning the creative studio)

Now, that I use it already, I know that it is a place, satisfying my taste and needs, and that I just don't want to go out of there!!

More about the beginnings of my creative corner on www Dom in Stil, if you click the link below:

Are you particularly interested in something I wrote in the article? No problem - just ask me! :)

And of course, I already can't wait to get your comments and read how you've designed and organised your own creative corner, studio, office or 'just a space for you'.

You're coming, aren't you?

If you didn't read this news on the website, and if you didn't check the events on the Facebook page, and if you didn't follow the link from the previous year, then I really don't know how we're going to see each other??? Come and taste the sweets, check out the artists who will paint there, come and buy our works and enjoy the great atmosphere there. On Sunday. I will be there! (And please, say hi, so that we can meet in person!)

It will not rain they say, but if the rain comes anyway, there's going to be roof for you and me and everybody!

PS:
Next time I will not tell you about what's going on... You will have to check the web site or Facebook page for that kind of information, ok? ;)

Neighbour - part 2

this post continued

...because of the pride on their own tradition which you can find wherever you go...

by the big and small...

and even older...

next to the glass...

or small barrel...

Do you like tradition or you can't stand it?

Neighbour - part 1

Austria.

Last year I already told you (in this post) why I go there. On vacation.

So, now it's time, to tell you why and why I like it so much - in pictures and words.

You will find me there:

because of the gorgeous mountains and green valleys...

active vacation and fantastic views...

because of no concerns as you always find the right way or direction...

because of wide pastures and curious cows...

because of the natural beauties, which seem to be endless...

mountain lakes, in which you can see reflections of the mountains...

and because of the 'combed' flowers too...

The list of 'becauses' is too long for one post, so I split it into parts. I can't wait to share with you part 2!
In the meantime I would really like to know why you go to a particular place on vacation and why not to the other?

Floods

How high was the water...

... or written records (memories, warnings?) on the facades...

My friends from Slovenia, I hope you were all on the land during the floods...

In need

Today I have an immense need to say thanks.
I thank everyone for your support, for your encouragement, inspiration. I appreciate your enthusiasm for my photographs and art works, your 'Likes'
on Facebook, your suggestions, ideas, and you as You. Thank you, thank you!

Sometimes a 'say' thanks with words, sometimes with photographs, or sometimes with a surprise or with my own art work.
This is a detail of my painted gift for a soon-to-be-born-son of a person who inspires and encourages me in my business and creative way. Thank you, thank you a thousand times!

(I hope she will like it)

And to all of you out there: Thank you because You Are!

About colors...

...in short...

Anyone who had to prepare himself/herself for the school (and working) days, was certainly faced with a bunch of color palettes that stroked, provoked, jumped into our eyes... - in short, wanted our attention in more or less friendly way.
From the Fine Arts or Art Therapy point of view, I could write a thick book about colors, but because I have a whole list of books that I have to write before it, this one will have to wait a little bit longer...

So, in short...
One of the most important part of a decent working place is certainly a magnetic board. Today, by offering all sorts of colors, we don't have to choose (for some people) dull white color for the magnetic board, but we can choose any color, or even paint it ourselves just the way we want it.

The instructions (the exact dimensions of the sample as well) can be found at www Dom in Stil, when you click on the link below:

or my blog post (in English) here: link

Ok, great, but how to choose the right color for yourself or for your partner and his/her working place? Or, what to choose for your child who doesn't want to see his/her room painted in pink or blue? We said a few words on this subject in a separate article, where you can find the first lesson about the color in space or on a particular object.

Click the link below to see if you have known 'the secrets' for some time anyway, or have a natural sense for choosing a right proportion of colors for the things you buy or try:

And tell me was that information useful to you? Are there any questions bothering you and make you worried when you have to decide which colors to choose?

Old

When I happen to visit an old settlement like Štanjel, I like to check what is the atmosphere there among the old houses at first glance:

Stanjel Slovenia photo creatissimolab

I peek behind the corners and am admiring the works of stone craftsmen:

stanjel old walls photo

I look up for interesting chimneys with a personal touch:

I seek for old, cranky walls:

and vegetation, which brings the stony streets back to life:

In the end I choose my favorite look, which will be my inspiration in the days when I am not in the best mood, and when I forget to appreciate all the shiny moments around me.

How about you? Do you like old towns? Do they inspire you?
